My Top 5 Deck releases for Fall 2020

Every three months I like to raise awareness around tarot decks that consumers can expect to be available. Whether the tarot deck will be ready to purchase, open for pre-orders or active on Kickstarter or other crowdfunding sources these decks are surely something to look forward to! These tarot decks will be released or available for preorder for the months of July through September of 2020 and are my TOP 5 tarot decks that I am most excited about…

the Runic Odyssey Oracle

Eva, a French graphic designer has created her first deck with the help of Kickstarter. The Runic Odyssey Oracle is a deck of 25 rune cards and 8 extra moon phase cards fully illustrated with keywords and gold foiled stamping. The deck will come in a magnetic lid box with ribbon complete with a printed drawstring cotton bag.

Estimated to be delivered to all Kickstarter backers and available for purchase to the general public in July 2020. Personally I’m super stoked about this deck as I have no experience with reading runes, however this aesthetically pleasing deck is sure to entice me to learn and expand my knowledge of different divination techniques.

Oak, Ash & Thorn Tarot

The Oak, Ash and Thorn Tarot is THE deck I personally am the most excited about!!! Created by Stephanie Burrows and illustrated by Adam Oehlers this is a deck filled with nothing but adorable woodland creatures that I feel was created specifically for me! 🙂 I mean, the entire suit of cups are squirrels !!!!!!! Come on!!! How could I NOT love it ?!?!

Oak, Ash and THorn is an eco-friendly tarot deck printed in the UK with FSC accredited/carbon balanced paper and veggie inks. Within this deck are 78 tarot cards and two companion reference cards, a secret bonus card and two additional art cards totaling 83 cards! The deck is printed on 400gsm card stock with a matte, anti-scuff laminate housed in a tuck box.

I was SO grateful to receive a prototype deck from the creators and it has me SHOOK! I posted a sneak peak of this deck on MY INSTAGRAM IGTV if you would like to check it out feel free too 🙂 The deck is estimated to be delivered to Kickstarter backers and available for the general public to purchase in August 2020 and I CANT WAIT!!!!!

the Lonely Dreamer Tarot

…is an 84 card deck created by Melissa Wortherspoon and inspired by the artwork of Odilon Redon. This deck will be printed on 330gsm card stock with satin finish and linen texture, coming with a full guidebook and housed in a magnetic box with ribbon. This will be a limited edition release with only 500 decks printed and, as stated by the artist, no plans on printing anymore. If you missed out on this opportunity make sure to stay tuned to the artists’ site as she potentially will be working on a companion oracle deck.

It features the gorgeous artwork of Odilon Redon which is absolutely stunning and lends itself perfectly to re-interpretation through the lens of tarot. It is diverse, as Redon was deeply fascinated by Japonism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and deep psychological symbolism. In this spirit, Melissa has designed the Two of Cups and The Lovers cards to depict non-heterosexual relationships.

Estimated to be delivered to Kickstarter backers in September of 2020 I am honestly unaware if there are any decks available for purchase. I do know she has an Etsy shop where the remaining decks, if any, will be posted for sale. So keep an eye out if your interested!

the Lost Forest Tarot

The Lost Forest Tarot 2nd edition, created by Chelsea Santamaria is a deluxe 78 card deck which is an adventure through the subconscious.

“The inspiration for this tarot deck comes from the sense of adventure seen in many works of fantasy, plus a touch of The Red Book by Carl Jung. Will you find transcendence on your journey of introspection, or does danger lurk in the darkest recesses of the subconscious? Either way, you will not emerge the same.”

For those that may be familiar with the 1st edition of this deck: the 2nd edition had updated artwork on over 1/3rd of the cards, fully redesigned box, sturdier 360gsm card stock and an updated guide with expanded descriptions.

PLUS…neither one of these decks participated in a crowd funding campaign such as Kickstarter, both being independently produced means they will be available for everyone at the same time! Get ready….cuz here, we, GO ….!!!!

Ha! I haven’t seen enough Del Toro films to be able to get into that deck fully. Looks like it would be a good choice for shadow work. I like that it gives me the creeps! But that Lonely Dreamer deck. Just Wow! I was gonna say solid second place until I looked more closely at the art. Reminds me of the Haindl deck, that dreamy collage quality just makes my inner lobster 🦞 click its pincers!
