The Oriens Tarot by Ambisun is recently makings its grand debut in the world. A Kickstarter project brought to life is slowly making its way to backers and being seen. I’ve got mixed feelings on it but let’s just dive in…
The box is a durable magnetic closure box with gold foil inlay, no guidebook is included but available to download online. Shipped to you in one of those blow up plastic tube container things, this sucker is packed to perfection so it will arrive to you unharmed.

The cards have a rainbow holographic edging to them which is not only beautiful but does not affect function. I’m always a bit concerned when decks get gilding on them because some go over board, making the edge of the card too chunked up with the sparkle which impedes on the shuffling process but then flakes off too. Not with this deck, thankfully.
The card stock itself I have to admit I was slightly disappointed at. I had it in my head the cards would be more of a thicker, matte, more lux feel to them…. they don’t. Now don’t get me wrong, it is still a good card stock, and because of it they shuffle very well and the deck size is standard which will appeal to most people. You know me, I’m always on the fence between quality and functionality and trying to find that balance!

Going further into the cards themselves some of the deck is a hit for me, and others are a miss. I love the art style, I’m a huge fan of animal decks, I think there are a lot of appropriate and interesting choices for the cards.
I’m not sure where I stand with the deck honestly and I don’t like that lol
Have you ever been to a nice restaurant and your supposed to have the best meal and best experience but when you leave your confused as to why it wasn’t ? Like, you can’t pin point what it is. Perhaps it’s the expectation ? The expectation of what it will be and because whatever I had romanticized in my head about the deck and that wasn’t met I’m left confused and trying to over analyze.

There’s always that one time when someone sits in front of me and I’m like 🤔 you need an obscure deck!
I have the Pitisci deck on the way to me from NYC and I already know I’m going to create a new spread using the majors.
