So I randomly stumble upon this tarot deck online from a company out of Bulgaria that carries various types of divination decks I have never seen or heard of before! As I consider myself still a novice in the divination world I like to stick with what’s comfortable…and that’s a good ‘ole RWS based system deck.
BUT… I’ve caught a sniff or two of Marseille decks and have been intrigued by the artwork. This interest has not moved past simply wanting to own a deck of this caliber and certainly not ready to learn a completely new system!
So like I said… I stumble across this deck and I’m thinking this is a Marseille deck….it’s not…I have no idea what I ordered lol. But I LOVE IT 🙂 I love the hand crafted feel. I love the imagery. I love that somehow I lucked out and got the 2nd deck made! I love that it could literally hold no monetary value, but it holds a lot of value to me 🙂 So let’s dive in shall we…..?
Some of the majors are easily recognizable when I’m comparing this to an RWS system (Because that’s what I know lol) I have to say, the old style artistry is just something magical to me 🙂
One CLEAR indicator that I had no idea what I ordered was when I was looking through the majors! And let me say…they certainly don’t end at 21 with the World…
Starting with #20 we see here pictured the 4 elements. Fire, Water, Land and Air.
And of course if were going to throw the elements in the deck why not have all the Zodiac signs too !?!? lol
Can you start to see where my confusion began?
I’m thinking….are we still in the Majors? What deck is this? What did I purchase? lol
Once we started to move into the minors it became not only a little less exciting, but also more expected.
The minors are a pip deck for sure. Which is what I was anticipating. There’s the occasional minor card that includes an animal or person, mainly in the suit of Swords I noticed…
The Court cards are just beautiful! Well, the whole deck is really 🙂
I love how all of the Knights in the Court cards are this half man half beast. Always ready to take action!
For now, as beautiful of a deck as this is, I will tuck it away in my collection. This is not the right time or place for me to really dive into this deck/system any deeper. I will certainly be using these cards for my photography on my INSTAGRAM. I like the variety with not only (some) of your typical cards but also the not-so-typical with the zodiac and elementals as well!
Do you have this style deck? Or something similar to it? Is it something you work with often? What are your experiences with this? Comment below and share with the rest of the Squirrel Nest so we can all learn, laugh and grow together 🙂
